MotoGP racer Valentino Rossi's career is coming to an end. The 2021 season will end in 10 days, and with it the almost three-decade-long career of the Italian, who was already preparing for the next period in Misano yesterday.

“There are two races in a row, so ten days,” Rossi said. “Imagine 10 days compared to 26 years! For me, it will be a very emotional moment, but I would like to stay focused so that I achieve the best possible results by the end of the season. For me, this is very important, as the race in Misano was not bad, but I do not want to think about what will happen on Monday, after the race in Valencia. I’m still a racer and I still want to do my best while also enjoying the other two races. In April, I was pretty fast on this racetrack and drove among the top ten, but unfortunately I fell. This time, too, we must do everything to be competitive and fight for a place in the top ten. ”

Before leaving for the penultimate race of his career in Portimao, Rossi, with his team Kessel Racing, and brother Luco Marini and friend Uccio Salucci, trained for now the almost traditional performance in the 12-hour endurance race in Abu Dhabi, Gulf 12. But this time the 42-year-old Rossi preparations took a little more seriously, as in 2022 he intends to race in at least one of the major championships.

“I tested the Ferrari in Misano yesterday, as we will be racing in Abu Dhabi in January, just like the last three years. The weather was not the most favorable for us, but we successfully passed the testing and had fun doing it. Feelings are good and I will become a car racer next year. The race in Abu Dhabi will be for fun, and then we have to choose the championship and the program for next season. ”

According to his brother Luca, Rossi took the preparations for the race much more seriously: “Vale was very fast. I was usually closer to him, but yesterday he drove very fast despite the wet track. He was a second faster than me, but I was more worried because the car was driving at the limit. ”

Rossi has revealed that he is interested in the Hypercar Championship, in which all major manufacturers such as Audi, Ferrari and Porsche will compete from 2023. “Next year I will be racing with GT race cars, in which championship I don't know yet. Maybe the World Endurance Championship, the International GT, or the European Le Mans. We haven't chosen the championship yet, nor do I know which car I will drive. I’d like to see how fast I am, as I’d like to race with LMP2 or Hypercar class cars, but there the level of racers is very high, so I don’t know if I’m fast enough. That will be shown next season. ”
