Yamaha racer Valentino Rossi says he is aiming for one of the top three spots this weekend at the opening race in Qatar.

Rossi stood on the podium six times last season, once in Qatar. The Italian says that all the problems that plagued him before the upcoming season have already been solved.

“In testing, we worked hard to improve on some of last year’s weaknesses, and gain in speed. I was very competitive during testing. I was among the fastest racers. I am very happy as we did a good job over the winter which will help me be faster. We have a competitive engine and I will be able to fight for the podium this weekend, ”Rossi said.

“I have a very good feeling about the engine and I can’t wait for the season to start. The competition is also quite fast, so I think some races will be very interesting. ”

Rossi predicts that Aleix Espargaro and both Ducati Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow will also show improvement.

“I believe Aleixe’s and Ducati’s engines will be powerful and fast. The races could be different from last year, especially at the beginning of the season, and at the beginning of each race separately. ”
