Daniel Ricciard’s disappointment can understandably be great. After the poor tactics of the Red Bull team in Barcelona, where he had to leave the first place to his teammate Max Verstappen, he also had to do so in Sunday's race in Monaco. Due to a mistake in the Red Bull team, the first place was taken by Mercedes Lewis Hamilton. The latter subsequently thanked him and praised his fighting spirit and racing.
Already on Sunday, he told reporters that it is difficult to forgive if the mistakes are due to the wrong decisions of the team management. In an interview with Sky Sport News HQ, it was seen that his current mood is not exactly the best.
“I can easily say that these could be two wins, and that hurts me,” Ricciardo is disappointed. "If I look at my career, I can see that I will soon be 27 years old, but I have not yet had the opportunity to be at least close to the chance of winning the World Cup," he was even more disappointed.
In the last 27 races he has had for the Red Bull team, he has only won the podium a few times, and if the team also claims to have moved slightly forward, Ricciardo does not see that progress.
Upon joining the Red Bull team, some in Ricciardo saw a racer with great potential. The first starting place in Monaco was basically also the first starting place of his career. “It annoys me, but I don’t want it to sound arrogant, but it’s true. I’m sure I have potential. And yes, the team could support my potential more and pay better, ”Ricciardo was sharp in the conversation.
We believe that these words will resonate in the ears of the Red Bull team for a long time to come. Also last weekend, team leader Christian Horner claimed that they wanted to extend their contract with Ricciard for the next few years. However, now the situation with his contract is even more tense. The Ferrari team has already hinted that it is uninteresting for them, but there are still teams where Ricciardo might feel better than in the current team.
It is also rumored that Daniel, despite everything, is still hoping for a Ferrari, as hints of a possible replacement for Kimi Räikkönen have increased. And so Formula 1 is tense even on days when there are no race cars on the racetracks.
