Renault lodged a protest: Racing Point is a copy of Mercedes

The Renault team carried out its threats and filed an official protest against the Racing Point race car, which won 14 points in sixth and seventh place at the Styrian Grand Prix.

According to the French team, Racing Point violates the rules prohibiting the use of designs that were not created by them, but if they already use a design that was not created by their team, in the case of cooperation with external manufacturers, the manufacturer must not be direct or indirect competitor.

"The biggest question is, is it really possible to copy certain solutions so well on the basis of publicly available information that they work so well?" wondered Renault team boss Cyril Abiteboul in April.
