Despite the obvious crisis in which the second racer of the Red Bull Racing team, Sergio Perez, has fallen, the team is not planning to replace him, but even if it were, the Australian Daniel Ricciardo would not be given his place.
Ricciardo was left without a seat in the McLaren team before this season, so he returned to Red Bull for the first time since 2018, where in the coming days he will test this year's RB19 racing car for the first time during Pirelli tire tests, but for now, according to team boss Christian Horner , they are not planning his return to regular racing.
"We certainly don't plan to do that for now," Horner said. "It was right that we gave him the chance to stay in this sport this year, because it would be a great loss if he left."
Ricciardo is aiming to return to full-time racing next season, so he would also be willing to take a seat at Alpha Tauri, the team's other team, if that opened the door to a full-time seat at Red Bull.
However, according to Horner, tire testing will be important for the 34-year-old Australian. "For Pirelli, these tests are important and it will be interesting to see what level he will be at, both from the point of view of speed, mentality and physical fitness, and it will also be interesting to hear his feedback about the car. It will be a great opportunity for Daniel, as he will sit in the car that just won the British Grand Prix," added Horner.
