Red Bull fastest in Suzuka qualifying

Max Verstappen won the best starting point for Sunday's race for the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka, with one of the smallest differences to teammate Sergio Perez. The Mexican was only 0.066 seconds behind the current world champion, while the Briton Lando Norris (McLaren) and the winner of the last race in Australia, Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), will be on the second starting row. Fifth was Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), who was behind his compatriot by 0.004 seconds.

Oscar Piastri (McLaren) was sixth, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) seventh, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) eighth, George Russell (Mercedes) ninth, and home racer Yuki Tsunoda (RB) tenth.
