KTM director Stefan Pierer said that they will bring engineers from the Red Bull Racing F1 team into their ranks.

The Austrian motorcycle manufacturer joined the MotoGP class in the 2017 season, and after six seasons they have recorded six victories, while this season they fail to compete with rivals Ducati and Aprilia.

Aprilia's form has been greatly boosted by the arrival of Massimo Rivola, Ferrari's former F1 team sporting boss, who has brought with him a handful of engineers experienced in two key areas of MotoGP, aerodynamics and tire degradation.

Pierer wants to emulate his Italian rivals and bring engineers from the Red Bull team to his team. "Aprilia has incorporated experience from Formula 1 into its motorcycle," said Pierer in an interview with motorsport.com.

"Their new boss is very smart, I like him a lot. He came from Formula 1 and brought with him a lot of experience in terms of aerodynamics. In the next season, I expect a competition between European manufacturers, which will be more than Japanese, now that Suzuki is leaving the championship. I just love beating Japanese brands. Next year we will be bringing more Formula 1 personnel into our team. Fortunately, we have long-standing links with Red Bull, a winning team, so we know which doors to knock on. Red Bull has hundreds of aerodynamicists with a lot of experience, which will be crucial in 2023.”
