Jonathan Rea is the winner of the first Superbike class race in Imola, where he defeated Alvaro Bautista for the first time this year. The Spaniard for whom this was the premier race at this racetrack contented himself with second place this time. They were joined on the winning stage by Turek Toprak Razgatlıoğlu.

Rea started the race very well and already in the right turn Gilles Villeneuve managed to overtake the fastest from the qualifications Chaz Davis. He then resigned only a few turns later due to problems with the motorcycle and left the second place to his teammate Alvar Bautista. But the Spaniard didn’t have the rhythm to be able to catch his competitor in front of him. Rea thus celebrated a dominant victory with an advantage of 7,8 seconds, while in the last round he dropped a lot of his own and lost three seconds against the pursuers.

Bautista had a fairly calm race in second place behind him as Tom Sykes resigned. Thus, a fight broke out between Michael van der Mark, Toprak Razgatlioglu and Leon Haslam for the final podium. This was eventually won by Turek Razgatlioglu.
