Kimi Raikkonen is confident that his lotus E21 will be even faster in the race this afternoon, after the Finn placed fourth in the qualifiers.

Raikkonen, who will start the race with the current world champion Sebastian Vettl, started quite a few races this year from a low starting position and then quickly broke into the forefront. The champion from the 2007 season believes that he has a good chance of succeeding similarly at today's Spanish Grand Prix.

“The qualifications were not so bad, they were definitely better than the last ones. Here, the racers are very evenly matched, so the little things decided between first and tenth place. Fourth place is not even that bad. Of course, you always want to be as high as possible in qualifying, but our car should be in good shape at the race. ”

Raikkonen did not want to predict the outcome of the race, but he believes that the ratios we have seen in this year's races will not change much here. “It’s hard to know already on Saturday what will happen on Sunday. You have to start the race well and only then do you see what you can do. In front of us are two fast Mercedes, for which we do not know how fast they will be during the race. I believe that the Ferrari and Red Bull race car will be a very strong competitor, so we will do our best and then we will see where we end up. ”

Romain Grosjean in the second lotus will start the race from sixth place, gaining one place at the expense of Felipe Massa (Ferrari), who was penalized with three places of the mark-up for obstructing the qualifiers.
