Finn Kimi Raikkonen has already finished this year’s race, as he will undergo back surgery next week on Thursday. The Lotus racer will not compete in the last two races this year, but it is not yet known who will replace him.

Before the race in Abu Dhabi, Raikkonen had a public argument with the Lotus team against his employers, who did not pay him the agreed salary all season. The Finn threatened not to compete in the last three races of the season, but before the start of the racing weekend they still reached an agreement and the 2007 season champion finally only raced.

The Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat reports that Ledeni Finec will undergo early surgery in Austria. This has already hampered him in Singapore, and since then the condition has deteriorated to such an extent that the pain no longer allows for racing. The Finn could not sleep before the race in Abu Dhabi due to pain, which is why he arrived there at the last minute.

As only two months will pass from the last race of this season in Brazil to the first tests for the 2014 season, there are unofficial concerns at the Ferrari camp that a later operation, which even risks the Finn landing in a wheelchair, would curtail Finch's preparations. to the new season with the team from Maranello. Recovery after the procedure, which turned out to be more complicated than originally thought, requires at least 12 weeks of rest.

The operation was scheduled for December, but in that case, the former Sauber and McLaren racer would miss all winter testing, and possibly the first race of the 2014 season.

Raikkonen will most likely be replaced by reserve Lotus racer Davide Valsecchi.
