The organizers of the race in France announced today that this year's race is canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. This is the second canceled race after the monastic test.

According to the original plan, Formula 1 racers would have to compete at the Paul Ricard racetrack at the end of June, but the French authorities canceled all major events and trips at least until mid-July.

The general manager of the race, Eric Boullier, told the public:

“Given the situation related to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we have decided that this year's race is impossible. The health of spectators, partners and all participants in sports is the main priority. We will focus on next year, when we want to prepare an extraordinary event for the viewers. ”

The decision was also backed by Formula 1 lead man Chase Carey.
