Quartararo: Today’s defeat is more painful than Misano

Fabio Quartararo admitted after the race that today's defeat against Marco Marquez in the last turn hurts him more than the one in Misano.

Racer Petronas Yamaha took the lead from the second starting position and led completely to the last lap when he was overtaken by the new / old world champion in the third turn. The Frenchman wanted to return the maneuver in the last turn, which did not work out, so he was only two tenths behind the Spaniard.

Despite Marquez taking away his victory in the last lap of the race for the second time this year, the XNUMX-year-old French racer was pleased with his performance.

“I am proud and satisfied with my race. Nevertheless, this defeat hurts a little more than the one in Misano. I didn't do anything there in the last turn. At least I tried today. When overtaking, I wasn’t entirely sure if I would be able to close the line. Right after that, he was right next to me and the finish line was right in front of us. ”

"Defeat makes me a little angry, but it's a great feeling to fight the whole race with a racer who, with the exception of Austin, has always stood on the winners' podium this year."

As he said during the race he did not think of letting Marc down in front of him and thus planning his line. In the end, however, he simply had to try to attack, as otherwise he would not have slept peacefully until the next race in Japan.

“I knew I had to do something in the last turn. If I hadn’t tried the attack I wouldn’t have been able to sleep until the next race. The strategy before the race was the same as in Misano, that is, to stay in the forefront for as long as possible from the very beginning. ”
