Fabio Quartararo was understandably dissatisfied after finishing the ninth race, which he finished in ninth place. Already after the first race, he strongly doubts his chances of defending the world title.

Already in the pre-season tests, the French racer has repeatedly publicly criticized the lack of Yamaha's progress in the powertrain of the new unit. After eleventh place in Saturday’s qualifiers, he managed to gain only two places in the race and finished ninth. Before him, the racers of all the other five motorcycle manufacturers finished. The latter is the main reason why he cannot be optimistic before the season continues.

“The fact that we won both races here last year and finished far behind this year is worrying. We started the qualifiers in Q1, a race in the fourth starting row, facts that made me not the most optimistic before continuing. I'm not an engineer. My job is to give 100% of myself in every race, regardless of the situation and conditions on the track. It doesn’t matter if I’m fighting to win, third or ninth place. I always do my best. You can expect that in the future as well. ”

He pointed out the high pressure in the front tire as the main problem in today's race, in addition to the lack of final speed. A problem that is not new to the Frenchman. A similar thing happened to him, for example, in Aragon in 2020.

“I had a good start, but after only two laps, the pressure in the front tire jumped dramatically. I was a little surprised that the problem came up so soon. I didn't have the right rhythm in the sequel. "

"I expected a bit more before the race, but we didn't have the right rhythm and that's a problem."
