Red Bull and Mercedes want last year’s tires

 

This year’s tires, made by Italian tiremaker Pirelli, warm up the passions. According to the German Auto Motor und Sport, the Red Bull and Mercedes teams have joined forces in demanding that Pirelli offer last year's tire mixes in the next races, as this year's softer ones are said to be dangerous due to excessive wear.

The tires are not supposed to be suitable for this year’s race cars, and the level of vacuum they offer. At Red Bull and Mercedes, they even find that the better the car, the more problems the team has with the tires. "The heavier the tires in the corners, the faster the tires wear out," RBR found.
