Sauber has released the first photos of its new C34 race car with a Ferrari powertrain, clad in blue and yellow. Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr will race with him as a completely renewed racing team.

During development, engineers focused on three key areas: performance in slow corners, reducing the weight of the car, and stability in braking. The new car is characterized by a changed shape of the nose, which was introduced after a change in technical rules regarding height and shape, a narrower side, a smaller rear end and a changed layout of the radiators.

Monisha Kaltenborn, the head of the team, said before the tests in Jerez: “The 2014 season was a disappointment, but that is the past. We are now focusing on what is to come. We’ve learned a lot from the mistakes and are confident for the upcoming season. We have to improve and fight for championship points. ”

Both racers feel ready for the challenge of getting Sauber back to the top ten, although Nasr as a rookie believes he has a lot to learn.

They will not use the final version of the car in the first tests, as it will carry some components of its predecessor C33, which will be replaced later.

Eric Gandelin says: “During 2014, we learned a lot and this has an impact on the new car. We will make good use of all the time until the first race in Melbourne to ensure as competitive as we can. ”
