Peter Podlunšek the most skilful in the Slovenian sky

Peter Podlunšek has been the best Slovenian acrobatic aviator for some time. This passion took over him from an early age. At the tender age of 16, he had already been granted permission to fly an acrobatic plane, and for his 21st birthday, he was already engaged in motorized. He later decided to dedicate himself to more acrobatic flying. Today, the Prekmurje man is 44 years old. He comes from Murska Sobota, where he also trains for the Red Bull Air Race competition.

He competes in the second strongest class, the Challenger Cup, where pilots were selected last year in Texas to fight for entry into the highest class of the Red Bull Air Race Master and thus gain experience by flying in this cup. The interest in the world for this competition is huge. With the participation of Slovenes, interest also rose in Slovenia. Otherwise, it is an exceptional success in Slovenia.

The speed of the aircraft, which weighs 580 kg, also exceeds the speed of 400 km / h. Just acrobatic flying, however, is not demanding just because of the meandering between inflatable cones at exceptional speeds. These are extreme loads on the body. Breathing preparations are also needed, as well as the body in general. When looping, the body can withstand loads over +10 G. Thus, the pilot needs to be collected every thousandth of a second, because in this sport, a mistake can be fatal quickly. The competition takes place only a few meters above sea level, and often hundreds of seconds count about the final ranking.

Peter Podlunšek, made his baptismal performance at the southern neighbors of the Croats in Rovinj. There he achieved an excellent third place in his class. He later recorded two more fifth places. He will obviously not finish his inaugural season at the top, but as he says himself, every pilot needs a certain amount of time to adapt to a new competition. He certainly still has plenty of time, as some of the competitors in the Master class have already met Abraham. For all those who missed this event in Rovinj, October 25 and 26 will be the last act of the season in Spielberg, Austria.
