After the first two free practice sessions, Kimi Raikkonen estimated that the Lotus team was in a very good position, even though he was tempted by the KERS battery in the morning. The Finn mostly drove with larger amounts of fuel all day and still stuck to the top of the timelines, so he believes they will be very competitive in qualifying practice on Saturday. “We drove a little bit in the rain, which is very common here. The feeling in the race car is good. We’ve been tough today, so I don’t know where we’ll be when the rest of the qualifiers are driving with little fuel. I am satisfied with our form and I expect that we will be solid tomorrow, ”said the winner of the Australian GP.
On the other side of the Lotus garage, however, not everything went so smoothly. Romain Grosjean did not find the right balance in the second lotus E21, on which they did not test all the corrections that Raikkonen's car received due to the search for optimal basic settings. “We are still struggling with the settings of the car, which I do not like and do not understand why. The new front wings give a better feel than the previous ones, which helps me a bit. Kimi drove with an updated aerodynamic package that seems to be better than the old one. That's why we know we can get some more speed out of it. ”
