Ahead of the start of the 2024 season, Sergio Perez is confident this will be his best season with Red Bull Racing as he bids to overtake team-mate three-time world champion Max Verstappen.

The Mexican will start his fourth season with Red Bull this year, but since his contract expires at the end of the season, he will be even more motivated to convince his employers to renew with results.

Perez started last season with wins in Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan before completely losing touch with Verstappen, who recorded a record nineteen wins and ended the season 290 points behind the Dutchman.

"Everyone is aware of the challenge that awaits me this year," said 34-year-old Perez. "Max is a racer that you can only beat if you give your all, so this is a big challenge for me and I'm looking forward to it. This will be my fourth season with the team and I am sure it will be the best.”

Judging by rumors, Perez's place in the team has been in jeopardy for a long time, the loudest speculation is that in case of unsatisfactory results, he will have to give way to Daniel Ricciardo, who will still race for Red Bull's second team Visa Cash App RB (last year Alpha Tauri) this year. However, Perez is not moved by the rumors, as he is sure that he still has a long way to go in Formula One, be it with Red Bull or somewhere else. "If I am good on the track, there will be enough opportunities. I still believe that I am in my prime and that I can still contribute a lot to the team. I'm still young and motivated, so I still have a long way to go."
