The 2014 season in Formula 1 served with drastic changes, but this year things remain roughly the same. Nevertheless, it will again be necessary to remember some novelties in the rules presented below.

Technical rules
- Honda's V6 turbo engines are returning to racing after saying goodbye to the global economic crisis in 2008. They will renew their partnership with McLarn, which was a success between 1988 and 1992.
- Drivers will only be able to use four more power units during the season, and this year they have five available. However, if the calendar also includes the Korean Grand Prix, which is currently listed provisionally, they will get another extra.
- In an effort to beautify the look of the front of the car, they changed the dimensions of the nose. The change in the rules no longer allows the old shape of the nose, which means that teams will have to follow the example of Mercedes and Ferrari's solution this year.
- They have restricted the use of the wind tunnel, which commands teams to use only one during the season. In addition, they can spend 65 hours a week in it compared to the previous 80.
- The minimum weight of the car was raised by 1kg to 702kg.

Sports rules
- After many criticisms, double points will be dropped in the last race and so it will be possible to get the same number of points for the top ten in each race.
- The concept of a virtual safety car, which was started after the accident of Jules Bianchi at the Grand Prix of Japan and which was tested towards the end of the season, will be introduced. It will be used when double yellow flags are needed, but the situation will not require a safety car. This means that the speed of the racers will be limited in a certain part of the racetrack.
- If the race is interrupted, the racers will now gather behind the safety car in the boxing street and no longer at the starting points of the start-finish plane.
- If team personnel or their equipment will be kept at the starting points 15s before the signal, the racer will have to start the race from the pits. Failure to do so will result in a 10-second stop / go penalty.
- Penalties regarding the use of the engine will now be taken into account in the current race and will no longer be carried over to the next one. If the racer is unable to complete the full penalty, he will complete a stop / go penalty in the race or receive a time bonus.
- In addition to the 5-second penalty for what happens in the race, the Commissioners will now be able to award a 10-second penalty in the same way.
- Racers who lag behind the lap will still be allowed to overtake the safety car, but the restart of the race will not be delayed in order for the racers to catch the connection with the others.

Racers
- The starting line-up will include 18 racing cars, of which three newcomers will be behind the wheel: Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz Jr. in Felipe Nasr.

New racing doubles
- Red Bull has made it possible for Daniil Kvyat, who will be racing alongside Daniel Ricciard, from his Toro Rosso subsidiary. Kvyat joined Toro Rosso as a rookie this year and scored eighteen points, finishing the championship in fifteenth place.
- Sebastian Vettel has joined Ferrari after leaving Red Bull, where he will be accompanied by Kimi Raikkonen, giving the Reds two world champions.
- Fernando Alonso returns to McLarn, who has retained the more experienced Jenson Button since the racers of the 2014 season.
- The Mercedes, Williams, Lotus and Force India teams will retain their racing lineups, and Marcus Ericsson has moved from the former Caterham to Sauber.

Accessories
- There is no new racetrack on the race calendar.
- The modified Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez racetrack in Mexico is returning after twenty-three years. The race will take place for the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, which continues the tradition of exchanging with Hockenheim. The Korean Grand Prix is on the calendar, but it is not yet known if the teams will travel there.
- Off-season testing has been reduced from four to two.
