With his run at the Monaco Grand Prix, Sergio Perez also drew criticism from Fernando Alonso and Lotus boss Eric Boullier. Perez was once again embroiled in a number of incidents, both with his teammate Jenson Buttn, as well as with Ferrari racer Fernando Alonso and Lotus ’Kimi Raikkonen. All three, however, expressed their dissatisfaction with Perez's race after the race.
Perez attacked Fernando Alonso on the import into the chicane. The Spaniard consequently had to drive off the track, after which the commissioners decided that Perez should be let down in front of him. This obviously gave Perez some confidence, as he later tried to overtake Kimi Raikkonen several times during the race with the same maneuver, but he collided with the Finn, punctured his tire and damaged his car.
His actions angered Alonso. “I don't want to pay too much attention to this, because the most important thing is that everything is fine with Felipe (Massa), after his serious accident. The second most important thing is that Nico Rosberg won, ”said the Ferrari racer after the race.
“Then it was Perez's turn to park his car in Rascass. He has been lucky in two or three incidents this year. In Bahrain, he almost collided with Jenson, and I drove off the track as I avoided the collision. Here I had to prevent contact in the chicane again, but Kimi was unlucky this time as he didn’t avoid contact. Le McLaren must be pleased with him (Perez).
After the collision, Raikkonen had to stop in the pits just a few laps before the end of the race and fell to fifteenth place, from which he then managed to climb back among the points winners with a great run, to tenth place. But that didn’t reassure Lotus boss Eric Boullier. “He tried once and if you look at the footage, he tried very, very late braking where he misjudged Kimi’s braking distance. I think that broke the bottom of the barrel, ”Boullier told reporters. “Already in Bahrain, he almost collided with his teammate, and here too. Too often he drives too aggressively and sometimes tries something that is impossible to do successfully. ”
Kimi Raikkonen also expressed his dissatisfaction. “I know Perez is aggressive, but I didn’t know he was so stupid. He drove into the chicane too fast. He had no chance of driving it properly. It’s not the first time he’s done such nonsense on the track. Maybe we should punch him in the face to remember something! ”
Once again, Sergio Perez nonchalantly attributed the blame for the incidents to the participating competitors.
