Sebastien Ogier has taken a step closer to defending his title in Australia. Despite small differences, the Frenchman successfully kept teammates Jari-Matti Latvalo and Andreas Mikkelsen behind.

Volkswagen's racers thus stood on all three podiums on the winners' podium, with which the German car brand also sealed this year's design championship in the best possible way and celebrated its second consecutive world title.

In the racing championship, the story is not quite over yet, as Ogier leads with a 50-point advantage over Latvala, and in the last three rallies, another 75 points are available, plus a few extra ones. The Finn Latvala won Sunday's sprint test, where he won three bonus points, one more than Ogier. He lost five seconds against Finc, but that was not enough to celebrate Latvala in the overall rally total.

“It’s the best possible way we picked ourselves up after a disastrous rally on home soil,” Ogier said. "We achieved something special with the triple victory, so I'm happy for the team, but also for myself, because with the victory I'm a little closer to this year's title."
