Jeremy Clarkson, one of the three hosts of the popular British car show, has officially announced the end of Top Gear in his column for The Sun.
Clarkson has been embroiled in controversial situations on several occasions over the years, most recently in a drunken state to reprimand an Irish producer and then hit him hard in the head, making him bleed and dizzy and have to go to the emergency room. BBC television temporarily suspended and stopped the broadcast of Top Gear.
Although often offensive but still very popular, Jezza, as Clarkson is called by his friends, told his supporters, who collected over 880.000 signatures in the #BringBackClarkson online petition, that their efforts were in vain. “You can collect countless signatures, gain the support of politicians from all sides, but the day must come when we will say goodbye and move on,” he wrote.
Fans of the show can only hope that Clarkson will be able to lure a fellow co-host to another TV station where they will start filming a new show.
