Daniel Ricciardo could return to Formula 1 racing this year, according to the latest rumours, which say that Dutchman Nyck de Vries only has until the Spanish GP to improve his performances or he will have to give up his seat in the Alpha Tauri team to the Australian .
Rumors were sparked by Ricciardo's visit to Faenza to test a car seat, while De Vries has failed to impress in his first season in F1, which some believe could mean the Australian will return to the wheel of a car after a stint with Red Bull was said to have found his old racing form in the simulator.
But the race car seat trial does not confirm a threat to de Vries' place in the team, it is a normal move given Ricciardo's role at Red Bull, as the former McLaren and Renault driver will undergo Pirelli tire testing with the RB19 in the coming days, while he is considered the main replacement candidate if one of the regular racers has to miss the race.
