New Mazda MX-5

Next summer, a new, redesigned Mazda MX-5 will keep us company on our roads. This best-selling two-seater in the world was unveiled today in California. The aggressive front of the car blends perfectly with the modern design of sports cars and from the right point of view resembles the excellent Subaru BRZ, but this is where the similarity ends. Soft lines on the sides of the car lead to the rear, which is simple but challenging. The entire construction is designed so that, as with previous models, the weight is distributed in a 50:50 front / rear ratio, which means that the ride will offer fun behind the wheel.

The engine will be in place in the front of the car, and the rear-wheel drive will store a 2.0-liter engine with 165 horsepower. The total weight of the car will be around 1000kg, which means that the power-to-weight ratio will be around 155, as much as the VW Golf GTI, Renault Clio V6 and Ford Focus ST have, which are not exactly slow cars.

The position of the seats is moved a little lower and further back, for a better ride. A few select ones working at Mazda have already driven a few laps and said the car is even more agile and softer. The car will be presented in more detail at the Paris Motor Show, which starts in a month, on October 4, 2014.
