MotoGP: Additional test days in Qatar

Teams and class racers MotoGP will have two additional test days available in Qatar after the first winter tests were in Sepang canceled.

MotoGP announced this week that we will not see an introductory three-day test in Malaysia this year, as measures to contain the Covid-19 virus have been tightened in the country. After a meeting between the teams, the leading men of MotoGP, Dorna and the umbrella organization FIM, it was decided, among other things, that the planned tests in Qatar would be extended for another two days, or that teams and racers would be able to test motorcycles for the first time on March 6 and 7. followed by scheduled three-day testing between March 10 and 12.

Before that, newcomers and test racers will be able to take a shakedown test on March 5, which they would otherwise have to take in Sepang.

In addition to tethering, the participants also discussed the possibility of changing the date of the first race of the 2021 season. The Qatar Grand Prix is ​​currently scheduled for March 28, when the inaugural Formula 1 championship race in Bahrain will also be on the agenda, so they also discussed Thursday's meeting. the possibility of the MotoGP race in Qatar a week earlier, on 21 March, which would also increase the chances of the race taking place, as all staff could remain in Qatar after testing, thus avoiding last year's travel complications. The change of the race date at the Losail racetrack has not yet been officially confirmed.
