KTM racer Brad Binder celebrated a surprising victory in the MotoGP race for the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring, which was spiced up in the final laps by rain that shuffled the cards. The South African took a risk and persisted on the wet track until the end of the race with dry track tires, while quite a few racers in the pits changed their motorcycles and went back to the track with rain tires. The winner drove off the track in the final lap and was penalized with three seconds of extra time, but given his extensive advantage, his victory was not compromised.

Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin made it to the podium in difficult conditions in the last laps.

Fabio Quartararo finished seventh, but after the fall of Johann Zarco, he still increased his lead in the championship.

Valentino Rossi, who finds himself in the rain like a fish in water, smiled at the sensational podium finish, but the motorcycling veteran eventually won eighth place.
