It is a very encouraging start to the racing weekend in Argentina for Franco Morbidelli. The Italian racer, who has received a lot of criticism in the last period, secured a direct appearance in the faster qualifying group on Friday. Somewhat surprisingly, he was faster than teammate Fabio Quartararo in both free practice sessions.

"It's a very good day behind us, because I managed to secure a direct entry in the faster qualifying group," said the Italian after the end of the day.

“This weekend started much better compared to the one in Portimão. We must continue to work hard and be even faster. Tomorrow, it would be nice if I managed to qualify in the top six. That's the goal, but we'll see if I can achieve it."

"We are still much closer to the best in the rhythm for the race than for one fast lap. Considering how competitive I was at this circuit last year, I have to be satisfied."

"The fact that there is a little grip suits me. I think we have taken a step in the right direction."
