Leading in the Moto2 World Championship scoring, Franco Morbidelli will advance to the elite MotoGP class next season, where he will race with the Marc VDS team. “It’s nice to have everything arranged so early in the season,” the 22-year-old Morbidelli said. “Now I can fully focus on my work this season. When I think of participating in MotoGP, I am excited and happy to enter the top class with my team and people I know who I have already worked with. The challenge is great, but I look forward to it. But now I'm going to focus on this season, so thinking about MotoGP will have to wait until the last season of the Moto2 class. ”

Team president Marc van der Straten explained that Franco had exceeded all expectations and would thrive in the top class of the World Cup. “Franco was a stranger when he joined us at the start of the 2016 season, but we took the risk as we saw what potential lay in him. It was a good decision on our part, as not only did it realize its potential, but it even exceeded our expectations. After dominating since the first race of the season, he is now leading the championship and I am sure he will adapt to MotoGP quickly. ”

Tito Rabat and Jack Miller are racing for the Marc VDS team in MotoGP this year. Where they will race next season is not yet clear.
