Jack Miller was the fastest in the two free practice sessions before the French GP, where home ace Fabio Quartararo continued to struggle with problems, and the returning Marc Marquez, after two crashes with the new Honda chassis, captured the fastest qualifying group.

In the first practice, the closest to the time set by Miller was Luca Marini, who was less than a tenth of a second behind the KTM rider, the third time was achieved by another KTM rider, Bard Binder, and the fourth was the local rider Johann Zarco.

Marc Marquez, who returned from an injury at the Portuguese Grand Prix, tested the new Honda chassis, prepared for the Japanese manufacturer by German Kalex, and set the twelfth time in practice with it. He also recorded his first fall, but was not injured.

The training was also marked by the return of the Italian Danilo Petrucci, who will replace Eneo Bastiani, who has not yet recovered from his injury in Portugal, on the factory Ducati motorcycle.

Miller was also the fastest in the second practice session, but this time the Aprilia racer Aleix Espargaro was 0.119 seconds behind him, while Marco Bezzecchi, Jorge Martin and Johann Zarco finished the session in the top five.

Brad Binder was seventh, and Marquez, despite falling again, recorded the eighth practice time, with which he, as the only Honda racer, qualified for the second part of the qualification. They start in a little over an hour, i.e. at 10:50.
