Michelin: Racers should adjust to the tires

French tire maker Michelin, which will become the official KingGP king-class tiremaker next season, has warned that racers will have to adjust their driving style if they want to get the most out of their tires.

The racers have already tested the French tires at tests in Mugello, where there were a number of falls, including the best racers Marco Marquez, Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi. After testing, the racers felt the falls were due to the characteristics of the front tire, but Pascal Couasnon of Michelin noted that the tests did not reflect the true picture of the tires for next season, as tire development is still ongoing.

“Some reservations need to be taken when interpreting the tests,” he said. “Testing takes place after the end of the racing weekend, so maybe the motorcycles aren’t set to ride with our tires. For racers, this is a bit more complicated as they have to forget how the tires they are racing on behave and get to know the new tire. The engines must be set up correctly and the racers must find a way to get the most grip out of the tires. ”

The arrival of Michelin is expected by Couasnon to greatly confuse power relations. “I think the leading racers have questioned themselves, while the guys from the background see a change in the tire fitter.

But we will improve the tires until the final version, and the racers will adapt to the new tires and everything will be more or less the same. ”

The racers will test Michelin tires again next month, after the race for the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic in Brno.
