Roberto Merhi is confident that he will return to the Manor Marussie race car next weekend at the China Grand Prix.

The XNUMX-year-old led to the finish line in his first race in Malaysia, albeit three laps behind winner Sebastian Vettl. Looking back, he was overjoyed when he learned just days before the opening race that he would be racing this season.

“It helped me a lot to make the team believe in me,” he told Spanish Diario Sport. "I raced behind him back in 2009 in the F3 series, where I competed against Valtteri Bottas, Jules Bianchi, Daniel Ricciardo and others who also achieved Formula 1."

The performance in China is not official yet, but he says everyone on the team believes he will drive on the track. “I was thrilled with the trust, even though I didn’t have the support of the sponsors,” he added.
