The Japanese Super GT Series category and the German DTM Touring Car Series will merge for the next two years (they will add a new series). A new Class One series will be created. They are already exchanging chassis and aerodynamics, and from 2017 onwards, the entire technical package. Representatives of both series met at the Nurburgring, where they settled all matters, including the engines, where a two-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine with 600 horsepower will be used.

The first year will feature a demonstration race in Japan, where Audi BMW and Mercedes from the DTM series, as well as Honda, Lexus and Nissan from the Super GT series will compete at the end of 2017. Then, in early 2018, they will return to Germany, where they will also try to adapt the IMSA platform, which means that teams from America will also be invited.
