The car was, of course, badly damaged enough to end the test day for Mercedes prematurely, but they immediately began analyzing why the problem occurred at all.
CEO Paddy Lowe has confirmed that they will work overnight to solve the problems, but for now it is not clear whether they will be able to continue testing - even if the new parts are already on their way to Spain. Paddy explains, “We know where the problem is, but we don’t understand it well enough yet. We have a lot of work to do in the laboratory, and above all we have a busy afternoon ahead of us and the night that follows, because we want to know the solution to today's problems tomorrow. "
Of course, Lowe also mentioned the problem with spare parts, which they do not have: “The first test day started very badly, and we don't have any spare / replacement parts for the new car. Nevertheless, we are on the right track, as our car generally works well, the test day was very useful for us, we just did not finish it in the right style, for which we will find a solution. "
