At the end of this season, the Mercedes team could dismiss seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who demands a high price of 35 million euros per season for his services.

The Briton, who is the second highest-paid driver in F1 after the current two-time world champion Max Verstappen, is out of contract at the end of the season anyway, and Mercedes is not doing well for the second season in a row, and especially Hamilton, who is still racing this year, has problems with the W14 car. he did not finish higher than fifth place, while his teammate George Russell, who earns "only" 8 million euros, was fourth in the last race.

Tensions between Hamilton and the team appeared to surface after the first race of the season in Bahrain, when the Briton said the team did not take his advice into developing this year's car. Well-known sports journalist Matthew Syed wrote in his column for The Times that, of course, there is a possibility that the team will return to winning ways, but on the other hand, "it is possible that Mercedes will not extend the cooperation at the end of the season."

Syed believes that in this case, Hamilton would rather find a seat in another team than end his career.
