McLaren Electronic Systems, a company that supplies electronic control units to Formula Caravan, apologized to Mark Webber and the Red Bull team for finding that a problem with the control unit software had affected Australia’s start to the Australian Grand Prix race. The MES reported that the control unit itself in Australia operated smoothly on all race cars, but the data collection system on Webb’s race car had to be restarted during the warm-up circuit, which affected the Australian’s preparations for the start.

Webber dropped from second to seventh after a poor start to the first turn.
