Russian Nikita Mazepin continued testing with the Haas team in Barcelona on Friday, the day after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, where he set off in a white race car, without the sponsorship of Russian sponsor Uralkali and the colors of the Russian flag.
The American team announced on Thursday night that it will perform in a white painting of a race car on Friday, without the marks of the said sponsor, and all logos have also been removed from the team trucks.
The team declined to comment on whether it was just a temporary removal of a sponsor owned by Mazepin's father, Dmitry Mazepin, or whether they would terminate the deal altogether. This will be announced in the coming days, and in the event that Haas refuses to welcome Uralkali, it could also mean that Mazepa will have to leave his place in the race to someone else, which is not ruled out by the head of the team, Gunther Steiner.
For now, however, Mazepin took to Twitter and said he could not influence what others were doing and saying. "I'm just focusing on what I can influence and that's hard work for my team."
