Jorge Martin believes he can become world champion this season after finishing second to reduce the gap to leader Francesco Bagnajo to 13 points.
The Spaniard, who admitted after the race that the decision to use the medium hard rear tire was a mistake, spent most of the first half fighting for second place with Bagnaja. When it seemed that the duel would go to the Italian racer, he made a mistake in the fifth turn of the fourteenth lap, thus enabling the Spaniard to reduce the deficit to only 13 points with second place.
"I am very satisfied with my performance. It was a very demanding race. The decision to use a medium hardness tire was wrong. By the end I was completely dehydrated and could barely stand on my feet. Considering the situation, it was very important to get that second place.”
"I managed to overtake Pecc in the opening, but I didn't manage to get away from him. He overtook me in the continuation, but then made a mistake and fell. The last five or six laps were particularly challenging, as I was already completely exhausted. This was also the reason for the mistakes. Fabio caught up and overtook me, but I managed to get second place back because I realized the importance of the extra five points.”
"The championship is now completely open. I am already focused on the race in Japan where I want to fight for the win. The track suits us, last year we achieved an excellent result there (third place)."
