The first news about Marc Marquez's condition is coming from the medical center in Jerez. After a mistake at the beginning of the race, the Honda racer had to break through from behind, staging an extremely interesting race and even driving in third place from which he attacked Maverick Vinales for second when he was thrown over the engine. Marquez fell badly, the engine crashed into him, and the Spaniard then showed signs of severe pain atypically for him.
Honde's Alberto Puig confirmed his worst fears. It is a fracture of the upper arm in a fall and fortunately he did not injure his spine, neck or chest, but this could strongly mark this year's MotoGP season and the Spaniard's fight for the ninth world title. More will be known tomorrow when Marc undergoes more detailed investigations in Barcelona on Tuesday as well as surgery, and for now he will be under 12-hour observation.
The next race of the season is scheduled for next weekend, and twelve more races are scheduled for November, which does not leave much room for Marquez to repair his injuries.
