Marc Marquez has admitted that after finishing his career in the MotoGP class, he would like to test himself in the Dakar Rally, but not with a motorcycle.

The eight-time motorcycle world champion is a big fan of the Dakar Rally. He recently prepared for the new season of the MotoGP class together with his friend Carlos Sainz Jr., the son of the three-time winner of this demanding test. The 60-year-old Spaniard suffered a serious accident on the ninth stage this year, which forced him to retire.

Marquez, who is following this competition in detail this year, admitted that he would like to try his hand at this rally in the future.

"Of course, I'm following this year's Dakar Rally. Especially in detail to the friend of Carlos Sainz senior, who is a real adrenaline junkie. This is his life," Marquez told Teledeporte.es.

"I wouldn't be surprised if we saw him in this competition for a second year, even though he will be 61 years old. He certainly still has enough power. I think he is still the fastest racer in his category. Experience, which he has a lot of, also plays an important role."

"If I ever take part in this competition myself, it will definitely not be on a motorcycle. I don't think my body could handle all the strain. You have to have a lot of respect for this race and prepare very well for it, which requires a lot of time and energy.”

"I'm very competitive, so I definitely wouldn't sign up just to be there as a participant. I want to win.”

As he added, the co-pilot, who directs the driver all the time and talks to him while driving, could also be a big problem.

"I think it would bother me a lot if someone was talking all the time while driving next to me. It would certainly be very difficult for him to get used to it."
