Marquez: Honda is not close to winning

After the first free practice at Le Mans, Marc Marquez said that Honda will have to wait for the first victory after Valencia 2019, as "he does not see any Honda racer close to victory."

Honda suffered one of the toughest seasons in the MotoGP class last year after Marquez was injured in the first race and had to miss the rest. This year, too, Honda did not start the season the best, as none of their racers has yet climbed the podium in any of the four races.

Friday’s workouts showed a ray of hope after Honda prepared a busy schedule for the test day that followed after the race in Spain. But despite encouraging results, Marquez doubts Honda can end a string of defeats this weekend. “Last year, my brother Alex almost won in Aragon and here, and Paul (Espargaro) is very suited to this racetrack, so he will be fast. In Jerez, (Takaaki) Nakagami was also fast, but to be fair, none of Honda’s racers are close to winning. The first goal is definitely the podium, and above all, for several of our racers to finish the race within the top eight or five.

Nevertheless, I believe that we will record some victories by the end of the season. "

Marquez had a bit more trouble on the dry track of his second free practice than he did in the morning on the wet track, after still recovering from a nine-month break from injury. “I didn’t feel so bad in wet conditions, as driving in the rain is a little less physically demanding. In dry conditions, however, I had several problems. But when I saw that I had set the eighth time, I was satisfied. I started testing different settings, but I realized that the problem was not in the engine, but in me. For now, my feedback is not as accurate as it used to be. But this is my job and I need to improve here. ”
