The winner of this year’s first race in Qatar, Marc Marquez, is excited about the possibility of further city battles with Valentino Rossi, as we saw on Sunday.

The current world champion, despite a not completely healed broken leg, managed to beat the experienced Italian on Sunday and pocket the first 25 points. The 21-year-old Repsol Honda racer is already looking forward to the next race in Texas, USA, where he recorded his first victory in the royal motorcycle class last year.

“The race was great for the fans, but those 25 points are just as important to me as I had to miss the pre-season testing due to injury,” Marquez said. “The weekend was very unusual, as quite a few racers took turns at the top, who are usually not in the forefront.

We’ll see if that’s normal in the next race. I definitely hope so, as this will make the show even bigger. I really enjoyed the last lap with Valentine. We fought last year and then I had to settle for second place, and this year I won the fight. I hope that there will be more such confrontations in the future.

I was worried about how it would be in the second part of the race, not so much because of an injured leg, but because of my right arm, because I relied much more on my arm, which got tired after five or six laps, ”Marc explained. "But the important thing is that I was fast in the beginning and that I was still able to attack the net in the end."

Due to the falls of Jorge Lorenzo, Stefan Bradl, Alvaro Bautista, Andrea Iannone and Bradley Smith, the Spaniard became a bit more cautious. “It was hard to gain confidence and confidence in the tires, after so many falls. All of a sudden, the front tire leaked. I also had some problems with the front tire during the race, but I think that was the case with all the racers. The race was tough, but 25 points is very important. Maybe I had a small advantage because I was driving with a harder rear tire. I chose this at the last minute and to the amazement of my engineers, but I felt great on the tire in the warm-up, so we decided to give it a try, ”explained Repsol Honda racer, who has fond memories of the upcoming race in Texas. "This is my favorite track and I will definitely try to replicate last year's success."
