After the third free practice, the young Spaniard Marc Marquez finished as the fastest. He was followed by Yamaha racers Jorge Lorenzo and Cal Crutchlow.
Most of the free practice before the Qatar Grand Prix was led by Yamaha, and then a rookie in the royal class, Marco Marquez, managed a great lap and consequently took the lead. He was behind Marquez Lorenzo in the overall standings, followed by Cal Crutchlow and Valentino Rossi. Dani Pedrosa had bigger problems, as he could not match the mentioned racers, and he took only the eighth place.
