Marc Marquez will not have to serve the penalty of two extended rounds, as the four-week period in which the court should have decided on the penalty has expired.

The Spaniard was penalized in the first MotoGP race of the year in Portugal when he collided with Miguel Oliveira after a braking error. Initially, it was considered that he should serve his sentence at the Argentine Grand Prix, but when he had to miss it due to injury, the commissioners changed the agreed location of serving his sentence. The Repsol Honda team filed an appeal against the controversial change in punishment, which was accepted by the Court of Appeal, which should resolve the case within four weeks.

Since this did not happen, according to FIM rules the penalty is no longer valid.
