Luca Marini set the fastest time of the first MotoGP free practice session for the 2023 Grand Prix of America. The Mooney VR46 rider was 0.150 seconds faster than Fabio Quartararo, and 0.278 seconds faster than Johann Zarco. Fourth time was set by Alex Marquez ahead of Team KTM rider Jack Miller. Jorge Martin was sixth, Francesco Bagnaia seventh, Maverick Vinales eighth, Takaki Nakagami ninth and Brad Binder tenth.
