Pastor Maldonado will start the next race five places lower than his qualifying achievement due to an accident. The Lotus racer collided with Esteban Gutierrez on his way out of the pits, with Mexican Sauber overturner Maldonado serving a ten-second penalty during the race, and the commissioners also awarded him a five-place loss in the next race and three penalty points after the race.
Gutierrez survived the accident unharmed.
