The details of Kevin Magnussen's performance at Sunday's race in Monza will be finally known on Thursday. The Dane suffered a serious accident at the Belgian Grand Prix last weekend, when he crashed into a protective fence at full speed. He will have to undergo another FIA check-up in Monza on Thursday, and only then will he get a possible permit to race.

Footage of Sunday’s crash shows that the impact was so severe that even the head guard, which was rumored to be unbreakable all the time, flew off the race car. Magnussen left the car alone, but was immediately seen limping with one foot. He was therefore also taken to a nearby hospital for a first examination.

“Kevin injured his left ankle, but examinations to date have shown no major injuries or fractures. He was able to leave the hospital the same evening and return home to Denmark, "his Renault team explained in an official statement. "Further inspections in Denmark showed that there were no obstacles to Sunday's race at Monza," they added.

Even Magnussen himself is convinced he is ready for Sunday’s race. “I feel much better, which is very good. I have had many reviews that have proven that I have no serious consequences. I am convinced and I believe that I will be sitting in my car again this weekend, "the Renault racer told reporters. As said, if this is indeed the case, it will be seen in the decisive test on Thursday.
