Lowes in the Superpole race to their first victory in four years

Alex Lowes won the Superbike Superpole race at Philip Island. For the English racer, this is the first victory after many years, when he celebrated at this venue.

He took the lead at the start of the second lap when he overtook Andrea Iannone in the first turn. The latter then slipped down the rankings due to problems with his motorcycle and finished fourteenth. Lowes gained a decisive advantage in the last laps, when he managed to escape his rivals by a good second.

Andrea Locatelli managed to pull himself together after a bad start, when he was even tenth, and managed to get to second place with aggressive driving. Toprak Razgatlioglu, who took the third place on the podium for the first time as a member of the BMW team.

The Turk managed to overtake Alvaro Bautista in the photo finish, who was only 0,074 seconds behind him.

Jonathan Rea was tenth this time.
