The former UK Grand Prix venue in Brands Hatch has hosted modern Formula 1 race cars for the first time in seven years, as Lotus has organized a filming day.

Romain Grosjean, Pastor Maldonado and reserve racer Jolyon Palmer showed off the ride in this year's E23 and the Lotus 72E, driven by Emerson Fittipaldi and Ronnie Peterson between 1973 and 1974. Both race cars were on the track in the afternoon, while Lotus spent most of the morning filming in different parts of the racetrack, in the pits and showing the starts. The team opened a boxing street for fans during lunch.

It was the first event at Brands Hatch after Lewis Hamilton drove a demonstration run in the 2008 DTM with an MP4-23 race car, which led him to the world title the same year. The last race on the track, which hosted a total of fourteen World Championship races, took place in 1986, when the Williams staged a double victory - home side Nigel Mansell ahead of Nelson Piquet.
