Lorenzo's first starting position in Jerez

 

Today’s exciting qualifiers in sunny Jerez made for a real show with many falls. In Jerez, Yamaha factory racer Jorge Lorenzo did best in qualifying. The second and third starting position went to both factory Honda racers Dani Pedrosa and Marco Marquez, who drove an even faster lap immediately after a minor fall. Cal Crutchlow crashed his first motorcycle with a fall and had to continue qualifying on a second motorcycle, finishing in fourth place. Valentino Rossi also experienced a drop at higher speeds towards the end of qualifying and smashed his Yamaha. The nine-time world champion walked away unscathed after the fall and had to settle for fifth place. Tomorrow's race promises a great spectacle for spectators, as the track in Jerez is much more suitable for CRT motorcycles, which the racers showed in free practice and qualifications.
