Sebastien Loeb will take part in the famous Pikes Peak mountain speed race this year. The nine-time world rally champion will compete in a Peugeot 208 T16, where the French carmaker wants to repeat the success with the legendary 405, which was won by both Ari Vatanen and Robby Unser. Loeb will perform in a class where racing cars are redesigned virtually indefinitely, and he has found financial support from Total, Red Bull and Michelin. The race car will be unveiled next month.

“When we announced the end of endurance racing last year, we also said that we at Peugeot would not close the door to future factory projects,” said Maxime Picat, Chairman of the Board of Peugeot. “At Peugeot Sport, they wrote a list of potential projects and among them was the ascent to Pikes Peak. Our goal is to win, so we need to turn as many cards as possible in our favor, so we have joined forces with the best partners for this project. Especially with Total, Red Bull, Michelin and Sebastien Loeb. Of course, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Citroen, which this time exceptionally lent us its extraordinary champion, ”added Picat.
